SYNOPSIS
THE WIZARD OF OZ, the first Pleasanton Playhouse show on the stage of the beautiful new Bankhead Theatre, runs January 18 through February 3 at the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center.

Based on the original book by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 MGM classic film, THE WIZARD OF OZ follows the magical journey of young Dorothy Gale (Rachel Wagner) and her dog Toto from their home in Kansas to the Emerald City of Oz. Along the way she encounters many characters including the Scarecrow (Anthony Olivares), the Tin Woodsman (James Koponen), the Cowardly Lion (Danny Cozart), the Wicked Witch of the West (Nikki Grieci), Glinda the Good Witch of the North (Marisa Borowitz), and, of course, the wonderful Wizard of Oz (Mike Kasin).

Memorable songs include "Over The Rainbow, "Munchkinland (Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead), "If I Only Had A Brain," "If I Only Had A Heart," "If I Only Had The Nerve," "We're Off To See The Wizard (Follow The Yellow Brick Road)," and "The Merry Old Land of Oz." The production also includes the famous "Jitterbug" musical number.

The show is produced by Kathleen Breedveld and directed by Carol Hovey, with musical direction by Jo Anne Fosselman, vocal direction by Jay Krohnengold, and choreography by Shawnel Herbst and Victoria George.

Performances are 8 pm Fridays and Saturdays Jan 18 - Feb 01, 2 pm Sundays Jan 20 - Feb 03, and 2 pm Saturday Feb 02, 2008 at the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center Bankhead Theatre, 2400 First Street, Livermore, California.

Tickets are $31 for adults, $29 for seniors age 60 and older and $21 for juniors 18 and younger. There is a substantial discount for groups purchasing 20 or more tickets.
