Our apologies for the confusing wording on the Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre season brochure regarding the Bankhead Facility Fee. Just as we were going to press with our brochure, we learned that later in 2010, the new per ticket Facility Fee at Bankhead would be $2.50 per ticket (not $10.00 per ticket as stated in the brochure). That rate would be assessed on all 4 of our shows in the new season (4 shows X $2.50) for a total of $10 per person per season packet. In past years, TVRT has absorbed the cost of the Facility Fee for our season subscribers. As with so many theatre companies now, TVRT is struggling financially and regret we can no longer absorb these fees. Specifically, then, the fee charge you would figure on your order is $10 for each set of 4 season tickets. Therefore, if you are ordering season tickets for 2 people, the fee is $20 (2 people X $10 each= $20). I hope this has helped clarify the charges for you. Please call 462-2121 or email mwilson@trivalleyrep.com with any further questions you may have. Thank you so much for supporting our shows. |

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show’s Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

Book by: Joe Dipietro
Inspired by and featuring the songs of ELVIS PRESLEY
Librettist Joe DiPietro’s exuberant jukebox musical shoehorns the songs of Elvis Presley into a narrative that’s part camp, part romantic farce. The loopy tale of mismatched lovers in a 1955 Midwest burg incorporates classics that range from sweet romantic ballads such as “Love Me Tender” to the rollicking “Devil in Disguise” and the hip-swiveling title song. Starting with a gender-bending plot device reminiscent of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, DiPietro stirred in a dash of Footloose, then seasoned the brew with humorous flashes from sundry vintage shows such as The Music Man and Bye Bye Birdie. An underrated gem, driven by sidesplitting tongue-in-cheek humor, those evergreen chart-toppers, and a tinge of genuine heart.

Lyrics by: Oscar Hammerstein II
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre.

Broadway Chorus and Broadway Kids brought "The Great American Songbook" to life November 6-8 staging one of their largest-ever musical productions. Some 88 singers, a six-piece band, and several dozen youth performers squeezed onto the Amador Theater stage for the two hour show. "The Great American Songbook" refers to predominantly swing music composed roughly between 1920 and 1950, when Broadway, Hollywood and Tin Pan Alley music intertwined. The songs ranged from the very early "Ain't Misbehavin'" to "I Got Rhythm," "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Moonglow," "Skylark," and finally Dave Brubeck’s immortal "Take 5." Broadway Chorus continues to set attendance records, with over 700 people attending the three concerts. For the second time in the group’s history, the theater opened the balcony to accommodate music-loving patrons. Over 600 people visited www.broadwaychorus.org -- nearly double the number from the last show. The performances were conducted by Broadway Chorus Director Jenny Matteucci and included a six-piece band featuring members of the Rudy Salvini Big Band, Daniel Lockert on piano, and the Broadway Kids Chorus, made up of local children in grades 1-8 and directed by Martie Muldoon. Broadway Chorus will return to the stage on Mother’s Day weekend, May 7-9, 2010 for "The Great Choruses of Broadway II." Photos (on left) by Forrest Sass and Martie Muldoon. |
