CONCERT SYNOPSIS
Mark your calendars and stay in town for the Broadway Chorus Memorial Weekend Concert! We are back at Amador Theater in Pleasanton to present "Let Freedom Sing". Under the direction of Jenny Matteucci and Martie Muldoon, the Broadway Chorus and Youth Choir will present a cross section of patriotic songs from all over the country. Song selections include: Randall Thompson's beautiful Testament of Freedom, "This Land is Your Land," medleys of your favorite patriotic songs from George M. Cohan to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." You are sure to get caught up in the excitement of many of these beloved songs and hear new ones to make your your Memorial Weekend celebration memorable as we present a concert that is suitable for the entire family.

This concert, produced by JoAnn Loitz, runs one weekend only. Performances are 8 PM Friday and Saturday, and Sunday 2 PM, May 23, 24, and 25, 2008 at Amador Theater, 1155 Santa Rita Road, Pleasanton, California.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors over 60, and $10 for youth under 18. There is a discount for groups purchasing 20 or more tickets.

MEET THE STAFF
Jenny Matteucci - Musical Director

Soprano Jenny Matteucci hails from Davis, CA where she grew up with her musical family, singing and performing in local and professional theater. After graduating she moved to San Francisco to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She soon became active in the San Francisco theater and caberet scene. After many stints as a singing waitress, she was cast in Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon where she was a featured performer wearing many of the largest hats. For the past twenty years Jenny has had the pleasure of directing choirs for local Oakland Diocese churches, where she also enjoys the ministry of cantoring. Jenny is currently the conductor and musical director for Pleasanton Playhouse's Broadway Chorus, a 50+ member ensemble that performs the current and classic music of Broadway. As a voice teacher, Jenny enjoys students of all ages and loves teaching both classical and theater repertoire, dedicating her teaching to the art of singing and the cultivation of healthy relaxed performers. In her spare time, Jenny is the owner of All the More to Love Consignment Shop in Alameda where she lives with her two teenagers, Will and Beth, and husband-accompanist, Daniel Lockert.


Martie Muldoon - Youth Choir Musical Director

Martie keeps busy as a performer in the Tri-Valley area. She has been a frequent singer, actor and musician with local groups such as Pleasanton Playhouse, Livermore Valley Opera, Livermore Amador Symphony (both as bass player and as vocalist), Shakespeare’s Associates, Asbury Players, and the PleasanTones. Martie is a music teacher in the Pleasanton schools, and enjoys directing Pleasanton Playhouse’s Youth Chorus and Summer Camp programs.


Daniel Lockert - Accompanist

As a soloist or collaborator, Daniel Lockert is equally versatile on the piano, organ, and harpsichord. He is a native of San Diego, CA, where he began piano studies at the age of five. After getting his Bachelor's in Piano Performance from Loma Linda University, he attended the University of Southern California and obtained an advanced degree in the specialized area of accompanying, studying with Gwendolyn Koldofsky, the pioneer teacher in the field. Daniel was the only American finalist in the first International Accompanying Competition held in the Netherlands. As an accompanist he has had an active career accompanying choral groups, singers and instrumentalists throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. He has collaborated with singers past and present of the Metropolitan Opera, such as Deborah Voight. As a coach and teacher he has been on the staffs and faculties of the Juilliard School, the San Francisco Opera, Opera San Jose, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Chapman University and the Aspen Music Festival. Daniel has taught and coached students for special projects at the American Conservatory Theater. He was associate musical diretor for Mountain Days: the John Muir Musical and the Haunting of Winchester by Craig Bohmler, assisting the composer in their world premieres at the Concord Pavilion and the San Jose Repertory Theatre.
